Snow Hits Greater Manchester TODAY! Met Office Issues Weather Warnings - UK Weather Update (2026)

Get ready for a winter wonderland, folks! The Met Office has issued a snow alert for Greater Manchester, and it's about to get chilly.

Winter's Last Hurrah?

Before we dive into the details, let's set the scene. It's February 18th, and the UK is bracing itself for some wintry weather. But here's where it gets controversial: while most of the country is under weather warnings, Greater Manchester is predicted to experience a different kind of wintery mix.

The Met Office has issued three yellow weather warnings for today, covering snow, rain, and a combination of both. Most of Wales and the Midlands are expected to be hit by snow, while the South will face a rainy day. And Northern Ireland? Well, they're getting a double dose of both rain and snow.

But here's the twist: Greater Manchester, despite being in the North West, is forecast to have its own unique weather story.

A Wintry Tale in Greater Manchester

Clouds will dominate the skies throughout the day, with temperatures feeling more like a chilly 1°C than the predicted 5°C. It's going to be a sub-zero kind of day, folks!

And the snow? It's expected to make an appearance across the region from 5 pm onwards. Oldham, prepare for a 15-hour snow extravaganza, turning into sleet by 9 am tomorrow. Rochdale and Tameside, get ready for sleet to take over from around 1 am.

Bolton and Bury, you're in for a late-night snowstorm, starting from 6 pm. Stockport, keep an eye out for snow between 7 pm and 9 pm, with sleet making an appearance at other times. Manchester, Salford, Trafford, and Wigan, expect sleet from 5 pm onwards, turning into rain in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Overnight, temperatures are predicted to drop to around 1°C. Thursday brings light rain and sleet to Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, and Tameside, followed by an overcast day with temperatures reaching a high of 6°C and a low of 1°C.

But here's the part most people miss: the weather is about to take a dramatic turn. By the end of the week, temperatures are expected to soar, reaching highs of 11°C on Friday, 13°C on Saturday, and 12°C on Sunday. It's a welcome change, but it also raises questions about the rapid shift in weather patterns.

So, what do you think? Are you ready for this wintry adventure? And how do you feel about the sudden temperature surge? Let's discuss in the comments!
